It was raining that night. Me and my brother were hurrying to the hospital by legendary “Activa”. While my brother was driving, I kept thinking of what I did was right or wrong. I thought maybe it was a mistake ignoring my best friend, Khush Bhaweja, as these series of events wouldn’t happen if I had ignored him that day. But suddenly, I don’t know what hit me, but something knocked me over from activa and there I was, lying unconscious, on the right side of the road.

When I woke up, I found myself standing in front of, well, me, staring hard at someone. Everything around me was black with blue blue strips swinging as far as I could see. But this version of me, he was feeling confused and concerned about someone. Before I could say something, I heard a voice behind me, “that is the truth. I saw it Tv. What do you say?”. I turned around and saw khush, making plans with me for the vacation. This time, we thought of going to someplace thrilling, like go the water park or something like that. And as far as I could remember, we were 13 at that time, so that water park was the only place we could think about!

We made plans that we would leave on 13th of July, right after my birthday(12th July), spend a little time together and come back on 16th of July. I figured that I would ask my parents for the permission on my birthday, as my birthday present. But they started listing all the reasons of why a 13-year-old kid cannot go alone.

I knew I had to convince khush, But how could I? He was my best friend and this ‘no’ could have jeopardize our friendship. So, my parents advised to ignore his as much as possible and that’s what I did. But on the 13th July, at 9.10 am, a message came from khush. It said “Bye buddy:)”

The next day, I got a call from his mother. She said that khush had an accident and was in need of blood. And since I was the only one that had same blood group from the entire family, she called me as soon as she knew. So I got off the phone, told my brother to get the Activa, and went to the hospital. That’s when I got unconscious.

When I woke up, I saw my friend lying beside me. The doctor told me that if I would not have come on time, we might had lost him. I told him about me being unconscious, but he told me that I was shaken for a moment, so that would explain the unconsciousness.

After a few months, we went to the water park, having fun. That’s when I realized that this act of kindness didn’t came as a friend but as a concerned human. And as I was thinking of all this, my buddy was making plans of going to best slide on the park. So I told myself to lock these memories in the darkest part of heart and went with Khush, my buddy, my best friend.
