 (A 100% true story)

It happened on the afternoon of 9th July. I was driving to one of my students' homes, not particularly thinking of anything profound, just letting the wheels turn and the breeze brush past. And then, as clearly as if someone had spoken beside me, a thought came — sharp, urgent, quiet. “Call Siddhart. Tell him to stay home on the 10th. Tell him to cancel any trip he might be planning.”

I felt a strange jolt. Siddhart? I hadn’t thought of him in months!

Fifteen years ago, I had taught him — a bright, grounded child. Now, he was a pilot. We weren’t in touch often, but there was still a thread of warmth that hadn’t worn with time.

The thought had no emotional weight behind it, no memory or dream prompting it. It didn’t feel like it had arisen from my own mind. It was simply placed there — like a message tucked into my inner pocket.

I called Siddhart. “Siddhart, where are you right now?” I asked.

“I’m in Georgia, Sir — on a short vacation.”

“Are you planning anything for tomorrow?”

“Yes… a trip to the mountains with friends.
 Why do you ask?”

“Cancel it,” I said, my voice steady. “Stay home.”

There was no resistance. But he seemed to be puzzled. “Okay, Sir,” he said. “I’ll cancel it.”

I whispered to my eternal refuge, my Master — the Almighty Sai. “Baba, is this You? Or am I imagining things?”

I parked the car. As I walked up to the student’s gate, I kept wondering. Was this a hallucination? Was I making something out of nothing? The door opened. The young boy Baibhav greeted me with a cheerful, excited smile.

“Sir,” he said, before I had even stepped fully in, “Can we do ‘A Stormy Day’ today? I really want to read that one.”

I didn't know about the story at all.I had come prepared to teach grammar. There had been no plan to do a story. No hint. No request earlier. I looked at the boy’s eager face.I said," But I had told you that I would test you on Modals?"

 He repeated, “Please, Sir?”

As I kept explaining the story,it dawned on me that it was Baba's direct command to me to warn Siddhart against his next day trip. The message I had received on the road was real. It was not a product of my imagination. If the boy had asked me the next day — after I had already conveyed the warning to Siddhart — I might have brushed it off as coincidence. But it came immediately — as if the Almighty had no intention of letting my doubt linger even for a half an hour!

The following is the summary of the short story A STORMY DAY by Anna Sewell:

"In “A Stormy Day”, Black Beauty, the narrator and central horse character, describes a harrowing experience during a fierce thunderstorm. He and another horse, Ginger, are pulling a carriage for their master, Squire Gordon, and his wife. The weather begins to turn bad as they travel. Heavy rain and thunder fill the skies. The roads become muddy and dangerous. At one point, the horses are urged to cross a wooden bridge. But Black Beauty suddenly senses something is wrong. He stops abruptly and refuses to move forward, no matter how much he is coaxed. The groom is puzzled, but Beauty stands firm. Just then, a man appears from the other side of the bridge and shouts that the middle of the bridge has broken down — it has been washed away by the storm. Black Beauty’s instinct saves everyone’s life." Squire Gordon realizes the horse’s intelligence and loyalty, and he praises Beauty for his unusual awareness and courage.

That day, I had received the command while driving — before I even reached the student’s home. The moment I stepped inside, Baba had arranged the confirmation, through a child’s unexpected request to study “A Stormy Day.” The Almighty Sai knew my mind would doubt — and He answered the doubt instantly, with love. That’s when I knew — that voice wasn’t mine. It had come from a source deeper than thought, more compassionate than reason. And I, the medium, had only to act on His behalf. Victory to Sai ----The Master of crores of universes...! The perfect Incarnation of the Almighty!
