A Small Gesture
A Small Gesture
Only one word came from him today. Oh! God! only one word that she deserved.
Neha sighed and stood on the balcony, looking at the 'Tuni bird' which was trapped in a cage. She let out a big sigh! She put her hands on her hips and felt a lot of pain. She continued to sweep the floors, while her husband just looked at her and left for the office.
Neha's eyes watered as she sanitized the baby's room.
Two years had passed; Neha and Rahul loved each other despite her family's protests, but Neha was still determined to marry Rahul.
Rahul worked at a low salary in a marketing company and spent long periods of the day at work. Unconsciously, Neha became pregnant.
Her mother instantly suggested that they abort the baby initially, but Neha was determined to keep her child.
Her mom said that Rahul would not have enough money to keep a maid to help her with the baby, so she didn't deserve it. Neha had to suffer a long wait. Saying that, her mom went back home.
That night, her father also scolded her. He said, "Neha, never forget my child. You don't lift a finger in your home, how could you carry your future life? Think baby, you still have much time. It would give you a better life."
With nothing to say, Neha hung up the phone.
Without thinking anything, to celebrate the new journey, she prepared some custard for her husband, his favorite food. She often tried to save some money from her regular family expenses and these savings just came from her groceries market.
When Rahul came back from the office, Neha trimmed herself to cheer up the new journey together. Upon hearing the news, Rahul gave her a huge compress and a kiss. He had nothing to say, only articulated "My Princess, my future."
They spent a sleepless and splendid night. However, when Rahul went to the office, he expressed doubts about being able to afford their future baby's needs. He doubted, could he provide proper care and medical support for his wife? His eyes downed, but now, Neha came forward to reassure him, promising to take care of everything herself. She gave him a huge gleam and patted his shoulders.
Five months went by, and there was some pressure on her womb to bear the baby. Neha needed more rest for the future, but she was helpless and had no helping hands because of Rahul's low income. But sometimes her mom helped her though she didn’t want.
In this way, one very sunny morning, a new princess was born in their family, bringing much light and spark to their home.
Neha and Rahul were very close, while their mother remained grumpy in silence.
After five days, Neha requested her mom to go back home, ensuring her that she could take care of her baby herself, and her mom left with an uncertain look on her face.
Now their princess was one year old, and day by day, Rahul didn't pay much attention as making more money for their family.
Neha realized that, but her mind couldn't afford to do much for her family's chores. Rahul busied himself only with his laptop. On the other hand, Neha tried to do all the chores herself, without disturbing Rahul. She was waiting for only one word to wave her mind.
After all, from morning to night, Neha, numerous stuff had to be done. Washing, cleaning, bathing, cooking, feeding the pets, breastfeeding... Oh! Loading pressure on Neha.
She inspired herself, she had to go ahead for her new world. She had to touch the blue sky, felt like the spring wave.
On that evening, coming back from the office, Rahul entered the room and straightly sat down besides the baby, didn't look at Neha as somethings wrong with his inner world.
The baby twinkled to see her dad, spreading your a smile on the dad as the blue sky open its beauty. He murmured, Oh God! What a big mistake! Rahul silently stepped into the side room to find out Neha. He saw Neha, his beauty angle, standing beside the window, holding hands with the green and staring at the open sky.
Rahul mended his mind, and kept a cool hand on Neha's shoulder. Neha trembled a little bit. She closed her eyes.
Rahul realized that and gave her a huge hug. A deep silence bonded both of them.
A deep voice wave to Neha,
Darling," he said as he reached out to hold her hand, "this family chores, let's do it together from today. You don't have to do it alone. I am extremely sorry and finally I love you."
Only one word, oh! my God! One word, love, share.. ahh! She closed her eyes.
She looked up at him, tears brimming in her eyes, "Really?"
"Really," he confirmed with a gentle squeeze of her hand. "We'll face any challenge together and make our lives more colorful than ever before."
With a positive smile and attitude, they tackled their tasks with renewed energy and a sense of togetherness that made everything feel more manageable. It was a small gesture, but it made all the difference in the world.
