Today, I got out of bed early and though everything seemed familiar, something was wrong.

I remember sleeping the previous night, with absolutely no sound in the background. Suddenly, I heard a faint sound of a crying child. I went out of my room and observed a shadow at my doorstep. I opened the door and there was a little child, similar to my son, when he was a baby. This boy gazed at me for a while and all of a sudden, his face gleamed with joy. He was no longer crying and I felt relieved.

Upon close observation, it became clear that he had bruised his knee. It seemed that he may have injured himself while playing. After a while, his mother arrived. On noticing the wound, she became petrified. The boy casually pointed his finger at me. I waved at her; however, she didn’t respond and was simply staring in my direction.

The boy walked towards me, knelt and shed a tear. I watched that tear in a time warp where it took almost ages for it to fall down. At that moment, an intense light flashed before me and I was no longer there. But, it took me a while to realize that I no longer exist in this world.

Interestingly, the moment that I experienced now was, in fact, an event that happened at my house while I took my last breath at the battlefield.
