A Cannibal's Hunt

Will felt Dizzy. The urge to meet Cara struck him at the heart but there was something worse. Hunger. Through his blurry vision, he eyed his own flesh and realized that he might not be able to resist for long.

All around him the land was contaminated. With all the energy he could muster he ran into the two-story building or at least what was left of it after the explosions. He fell to the floor, the deepest surge of hunger driving him crazy.

He missed his little sister Cara. Cara was the last person he had. Now, even she was nowhere to be found. He still remembered the last time he was with her. She had looked pale and very skinny. The joyful blue of her eyes seemed to have faded away. Her long black hair usually in a tight bun, hung lifelessly around her shoulders. He could still see how life was slowly slipping out of Cara.

"I will go look for some food,'' he whispered to her and started his way down in the dark.

 

After almost an hour when he returned Cara was missing. He had tried to scream but his voice didn’t escape his throat. He had wanted to run and look for Cara but his tired hungry legs refused to. He felt sick. Now almost weeks had passed since Cara's disappearance, hunger bubbled up inside him. He felt sick.

That’s when he saw it.

In the darkness of night, it was very unclear but he could trace a small shadow inching towards the woods. He couldn't figure out, neither did he care who it was but all he could sense was the person’s flesh. Hunger was driving him inhumane... He crept closer to the shadow and right when he thought that it was distracted, he ran and pushed the figure on the dirty road. The figure collapsed on the ground. Will dug in the figure’s flesh and it screamed in agony but all Will’s mind could think of was raw meat and flesh. Slowly he could feel the body giving up and then he heard it.

The figure’s last words before its body went cold. “Oh Will,” The shrill cold words were the last Cara ever uttered.
