A Beggar In Wilderness

In the deep hinterlands, a poor farmer and his family were about to sit for supper when someone knocked at their door. The farmer opened the door to find a ravaged man, sick and hungry. His lips were dry with thirst and he was visibly famished, barely able to stand. The farmer took the guy to their board and offered him whatever little there was. The hungry man hurriedly ate up the entire spread of food and looked up to the family with regret, "I am ashamed, I ate up all you had for yourself. Even your children are hungry!" 

The farmer said," Never mind, I am here to care for them, but tell me, had I not opened the door for you, who would care for you in this wilderness?" And he offered him a blanket and a warm bed.
