What We Want

What We Want

What have we gained, much has been lost

Lives and livelihoods of the poor at great cost

Headlines and events make up your rule

Elections times are here, you have lost your cool.

Monk-like in appearance, bowing with folded hands

Ants in your pants, worried if defeat is what to you, people will hand.

Times was when people said Modi hai toh vishwas hai

Now people say Modi toh wishy-washy hai.

Beaten on both sides like the drum you sound hollow

Promises of good times, no more people can’t swallow.

Daulat few people did get, now doubts plenty of people do get.

In times of debts, you go hiding

When it comes to credit taking, high you go riding.

Two square meals and investment in our children’s future

Is our minimum needs, your government can it ensure?
