Inexorable

Even if she were to understand the meaning behind it,

There was nothing she could’ve done to stop what was to come her way.

The last time she genuinely felt happy was when her hands were decorated with henna.

Although the idea of red hue on her feet baffled her, she allowed it to happen.

She liked the taste and color of haldi in her food, but now its use felt strange to her.

No one was able to answer her when she asked, “Why is this being applied on my body?”

Unlike her, who was too young to realize what was happening, 

The elders in her family failed her.

 

Little did anyone know this union would change her life,

 for more reasons than being just a child bride.

But even if she were to understand the meaning behind it,
