Labyrinth Of Promises

Once again, you’re lost in this maze.

The maze offers an abundance of promises that are never kept but are made,

With so much confidence that you’re willing to trust,

The words that are deceptive and unjust,

Because they do nothing but crush you since you get easily swayed.

You don’t even want to find a way out,

In the hopes of the promises being kept one day,

Because you easily trust what people say.

Perhaps, you have a sweet tooth,

Because look at the way you easily fall for sugar-coated words.

Regardless, you’ll always be alone here,

That’s how naïve you are,

The walls of the maze will close in on you,

And you’ll lean on them for comfort,

Only to feel how cold they are.

They’ll devour you but you’ll thank them for embracing you,

Because the people that are supposed to, never stay.

And that’s your punishment for being naïve,

Because of the vulnerability that comes with trusting words as they are,

Will cause more pain than being stabbed with a knife.
