What do you wanna do when you Grow Up?

What do you wanna do when you Grow Up?

I was 6 when I learned to categorise.

Doctors, Teachers, Carpenters, Farmers, Police were the 5 names of occupations I knew about.

But All I wanted were TOYS and GAMES my Mom and dad got me.

But little did I know.

I had to grow.

Listening to people planning my career for me

They knew what I seeked

Yet they questioned

"WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO WHEN YOU GROW UP?"

I was 8 when I aimed to be a doctor.

Just like my mom, just like my dad.

They were such an inspiration for me.

But all I dreamt of was a Hospital, just like a doll house.

Few patients, a hospital, nurses dressed according to me and best doctor coats.

But little did I know.

I had to grow.

Listening to people suggesting me to become a doctor because my parents were doctor, to expand their legacy,

to lead on their footsteps.

They Knew what I seeked

 Yet they questioned.

"WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO WHEN YOU GROW UP?"

I was 10 when I aimed to be a Pilot.

I wanted to fly an airplane.

I wanted to fly in the clouds.

But all I dreamt of was traveling to different places, enjoying myself, with beauty all around me, still life attracting me.

Choosing the prettiest for me.

But little did I know.

I had to grow.

Listening to people suggesting me to study as hard from that day itself and that too day and night and give being pilot a second thought.

They Knew what I seeked.

Yet they questioned.

"WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO WHEN YOU GROW UP?"

I was 13 when I aimed to be an Anonymous Hero.

I read India's Heroes, in an English Literature textbook.

I saw movies.

I was highly inspired.

Hemant Karkare, Major Sandeep, Vishnu Dattaram and many more fighting until their last breaths yet they aren't known by many of us.

But all I wanted were black clothes with a high smart ponytail with a gun in my hand.

But little did I know.

I had to grow.

Listening about how dangerous it could be, dying, being covered in blood, watching people taking theur last breaths, being forced until I take my last breath.

They Knew what I seeked.

Yet they questioned.

"WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO WHEN YOU GROW UP?"

I was 14 when I aimed to be just a human

Teenage hit me.

All I sought was peace, fun, and happiness.

As aimless as I could be.

From choosing the best dress to choosing the best accessories to go with it, from buying the most creative stationery to building up the most creative and different projects. From finding one Beautiful place to another. From finding one background that could be perfect for my Instagram updates to another. From clicking photographs of mine to clicking photographs of everything beautiful I found.

But little did I know

I had to grow.

Listening to people telling me to finally decide what am I gonna do next, walk in on my parents footsteps or something else!

They knew what I sought.

Yet they questioned.

"WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO WHEN YOU GROW UP?"

I was 15 when I aimed to be an explorer.

As my Instagram told me theres earning through traveling too.

I wanted to explore more and more.

Staying stuck at one place was never for me.

Settling was never for me.

I dreamt of being at peace, no money could satisfy me until I dont pose for photographs with prettiest backgrounds or don't dance on the song of my footsteps with a beautiful dress on my 'empty fun filled' body with smart sneakers on my feet with people around I dont know of, with a new life every now and then.

But little did I know

I had to grow.

Listening to people telling me this doesn't come for free, you need to earn it, how are you even gonna do it, that's not possible.

They knew what I seek

Yet they questioned.

"WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO WHEN YOU GROW UP?"

I am 16 and I aim to be a designer.

Realising the fact that science was never made for me.

Realising the fact that all I ever adored were pretty creative things.

Realising that the craziness for dresses, shoes, creative stationery, designer homes, rooms, stuff was just not my FONDNESS for all this

It wasnt just an attraction.

 It was my PASSION.

It was my PASSION for DESIGN that always drove me to choose pretty things.

I still have to grow.

Listening to people telling me about the positives and also the negatives

They will know what I seek

Yet question

"WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO WHEN YOU GROW UP?"

You will keep growing

You will keep finding perspectives.

You will keep finding what interests you

There's so much in life yet to realise, yet to fulfill,

yet to listen, yet to do.

After all, it's all about

WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO WHEN YOU GROW UP?
