Two Women
Two Women
A narrow alley opened to a street
A young, impressionable, vulnerable kid
She wore shambles while I was decked up
That was a scene clearly messed up
I summoned my privilege-driven conscience
Despite resistance
I just thought I could do a miracle
But sadly she has fallen into a circle
I had assumed she was homeless
Only to find out she was also fatherless
That is indeed a tragedy
But tragedy seems worse without indemnity
I had already made up my mind
To put her woes to rest and be kind
I wish I had known she wasn't the only one
Because poverty, unlike abundance, never feeds alone.
