Trailing My Conscience

Trailing My Conscience

I was there, though not my senses.

With swollen eyes, bruised face

I saw a hazy scene

The man was there

I remember him, he is the one I defrauded

So what, he is discreet and has been shielded

Might be for his family, or rich status that he was spared

Or is he really a man of dignity, who cared

Oh! did I question

That's an unlikely equation

I have a reputation of being cold and stringent

And that excuse to me is relevant

Why, why just now

I don't remember how

I am not supposed to be this way

This is who I am today.
