He existed much before the world came into being,

With the big bang, when the solar system was still forming,

He stood watching the numerous life forms evolving,

The Ice age and Stone age, he witnessed without involving.

He bowed when Moses lead for a new beginning,

And cried when Jesus gave up his life for love and taught forgiving,

He saw a war between cousins, with the righteous winning,

And learned, one has to do his duty without distraction or bonding,

In brotherly devotion, he saw a sibling dedicate his life,

A woman joining her husband in exile, since she was a dutiful wife,

He saw a teacher take it upon himself to create an emperor,

Bring all the small kingdoms together, to create a unified empire.

He witnessed many invasions, loot, and plundering,

Some for wealth and boundary, some for ego massaging,

He saw many monarchs and dynasties rising and falling,

People slaughtered because ambition surpassed reasoning.

He witnessed Art, Science and Intercontinental trade flourishing,

The world getting closer with information exchanging,

He saw an era of research, invention, and space exploring,

With technological advancement, human race steadily progressing.

He saw wealth becoming supreme, to greed relationships dying,

Compassion being replaced with selfish manipulating,

He stood witnessing nature's delicate balance tilting,

With the depletion of resources, melting of ice and global warming.

In a few years, he could foresee this beautiful world vanishing,

But he was cursed to silence and could not give a warning,

Yet one more time the cycle of life will be repeating,

He would witness the destruction, silently crying.

With a muted voice, he was destined to stand watching,

This beautiful world-annihilating because of man's doing,

In loneliness, he would frequently replay the events, thereby in his memory firmly etching,

He was Time, he was bestowed with eternal life so he would survive, albeit grieving.
