Scales of Delays
Scales of Delays
There are always days
Where you feel tired, gloomy, and glazed
Where your heart is appraised
On the scale of delays
But today feels worse
The heart in a hearse
With everyone to curse
and no one to nurse
Woke up on the wrong side of the bed
Yesterday tears lay unshed
the heart that sluggishly bled
Crying after a broken thread.
Burnt my hand on the stove
Tripped over the grove
Broke the bottle of soave
Is this what the fates wove?
Stubbed my toe on the leg
of the table brought by Greg
Threw the yolk of the egg
Got knocked down a peg
Was late for the bus
Because of all the rush
<p>Boss had a lot to discuss
Enough to concuss
Forgot my lunch
Had to hear the crunch
Of the other's brunch
Just sat with my fruit punch
Boarded the bus back home
Filled with sweaty gnomes
The sky was turning gloam
A symphony of syndrome
Came back home to my pup
My three-legged cheer up
And forgot the monotonous
Scales of repetition
I sat with Donna on my lap
Her tail wagging back and forth
And let myself relax
In her warm embrace
The comfort of her weight on my thighs
And the droning of the evening news
Let me drift away from the present
Away from the scales of delays
