The Window I Never Closed
The Window I Never Closed
She looked towards her old, broken window.
She moved, leaned towards the window.
Her window frame was decorated
by her palm prints.
More than a thousand times she was there.
Yes, she has been there for more than that.
What was there on the other side?
A heap of memories in barren land—
She gathered them one by one when she
was there.
She was not fond of beautiful recollections.
She cherished melancholic memories.
For the reason that she believed
it made her strong.
Seasons passed,
Day and night came and gone.
No more can she stay here.
Tenses are realities.
She knew she had more steps to take toward
the future.
The present also became past.
She can’t stop.
The present
is only present.
She promised to her future:
“I will not close the window.
I want to gaze at the past.”
Closed window—
Because those are not only memories,
They are life lessons..
