The Undying Love

Love is like a friendship caught on fire,

In the beginning a flame,

Very pretty, often hot and fierce,

But still, only light and flickering.

As love grows older, our hearts mature,

Our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

It's easy loving someone in the light: in the bright light where,

Everyone wants you to love each other,

Everyone expects you to stay together, and it's the right thing to do,

But have you ever loved someone in the dark: in the deep dark where nobody wants you to love,

Everyone expects you to be a mistake, 

It's supposed to be the wrong thing to do?

For no other reasons than love itself,

It's the flower that grew in the pavement,

The vines that grew inside cement, walls, the lotus that rises cyan blue from the mud.

Undying love is the key to many locks,

The universe blew god a stranger's kiss,

Earth landed softly upon infinity's lips, 

I had been dying to know her better ever since,

Love is a powerful emotion,

Even a Newborn understands,

It has kept its word in history and mythology,

It has and will never die.
