The Stars

The Stars

On a calm night

While a cool wind blew

I stared up at the sky

And saw the act performed by the cosmos

The endless darkness wrestles with the twinkling lights,

Constellations ready their bows,

And heroes of a distant past prepare for their eternal chase.

The moon is hung like a polished shield,

Beaming with the light of the Sun,

Brightening up the arena.

Clouds hiding my view of the action,

Escort off the stars,

And tarnish the sliver moon.

Seeing such unbridled delight,

I stare up at the sky every night.
