The Smart Phone!!

I am 10, already disillusioned with life,

Before you ask, let me tell you why,

Technology is now my biggest foe,

Especially a wonder called 'the smart phone'!

The gadget has become a prized possession,

So much so, it is almost an obsession,

Tagged along for every occasion,

Be it a birthday or a final procession.

With every message or a post it rings,

If there is a call, it loudly sings,

But every time it makes a noise,

It is picked up as though there is no choice.

Be it early morning while brushing the teeth,

Or when we are in the middle of our daily meal,

Even at times in the middle of the night,

When it signals, it is promptly checked.

Evenings were once a time to connect,

When we would laugh, share and reflect,

Now the phone is at it's performing best,

So it is like answering an objective test.

In person chatting is out of vogue, even discouraged,

When I want to talk, I simply type a message,

Then I am sure to receive a reply,

From parents, siblings and friends alike.

The smart phone is now such a rage,

Everyone has it, some even less my age,

For entertainment I sit playing alone,

Oh! How I hate the smart phone.
