The Run
The Run
Oh my, this distance is too far!
Says my friend unwrapping his chocolate bar.
How many times have I tried convincing him to join me for a run?
Just to hear him complain 'Why don't you let me have some fun?'
The distance however long it may seem,
Needs to be conquered one step at a time.
And before you can realise, you will stride across the finish line.
And if you are up for the challenge,
Bring in your pace some change.
Sprint a while and feel the winds whisper.
'Oh c'mon my friend, the aspiring runner.'
Don't be afraid of the sweat.
It is your body, thanking you for the reward you'll soon get.
When your legs seem to be giving up,
Let the wind and your mind get you through.
Running is not just a result of how your legs act
Running results from every beat of your heart.
When you finally cross the finish,
That joy, none but you can relish.
Run with your heart,
Run with your mind.
And witness how your legs zoom you ahead, leaving the rest behind.
