The Perfect Illusion
The Perfect Illusion
The wait, the longing,
The dreamy couple across the road.
Oozing with sweetness,
Was the black hole that sucked all.
I sat swooning over romances
As the strongest of words trampled hearts,
The crumbled bits fitting to perfection.
The craving for the utopian,
Masks the madness around,
For the panacea seemed ever at hand
When it was love and love alone.
The dreamland of perfect imperfections,
Beckoned me into its illusion filled abyss.
The life brimming with shortcomings,
Was never to be seen in the land of lore.
Love, they say,
Stitches together the battered soul.
Love, they say,
Heals and mends the heart
Crushed under a lifetime of pain.
Love, they say,
Cherishes the beauty in the mundane.
Love, they say,
Is worth waiting for.
The one that I'm waiting for.
