The Obverse of Humanity

I am just a child,

But I do understand.

Please, don’t do something like this,

This is fratricide that you are committing.

Those poor miserable souls,

What have they done to you?

What have they done for you to commit

Such heinous atrocities?

You say that India is not economically stable,

Yet, isn’t what you’re doing the cause for it?

You say that other countries are better,

Do you think, the people there

Act like fanatics and barbarians?

Those are traitors of humanity,

Who have held weapons against the other.

How many more lives will you take?

How many more dreams will you crush?

How much more stains of blood,

Will you cover your hands with?

What else will you do in the name of religion?

Is this not enough?

Do such macabre scenes not evoke pity in you?

Do you not feel the malice of humanity,

As a malediction upon earth?

How long should we suffer?

How long should we wait,

For these manacles of malice and odium

To free humanity?
