Sweet Mother
Sweet Mother
There are many things I’d like to tell you,
But you are not here to share my glory.
You were taken away too soon, dear Mother,
And that is the saddest part of the story.
I remember how you rocked me to sleep,
A lovely song you sang to me.
I’m not sure though which one it was,
But I was as happy as could be
A love like yours, I can’t replace.
How can I, Mother? You are my hero.
Had you not loved me the way you did,
My life would have been a zero.
You always knew I’d make it big,
You boasted even before I began.
Could you have guessed you wouldn’t be there?
And that is the reason my praises you sang?
What I remember of you is sweetness,
To friends and enemies alike.
I never had to look for attention,
As your love conditioned my psyche.
Some children are not so lucky,
To have a mother like you.
Endless love and tender care
Oh, Mother, there are only a few.
So today, I tell the world about you, Mother,
My sweet Nightingale, who brought,
Happiness in its fullest form,
Memories are all I’ve got.
