Shadows of His Past
Shadows of His Past
His heart once belonged to another's grace,
A love now lost, yet memories remain in place.
Though he swears his love for me is true and bright,
Her ghostly presence haunts my endless night.
Comparison's curse, a weight I bear with pain,
Feeling inferior to love that remains.
His nostalgia triggers my deepest fear,
That somehow I'll never wipe away her tear.
Yet still he holds me close, and whispers low,
"My love for you alone will forever grow."
But shadows of his past linger near,
A bittersweet reminder, always drawing tear.
Still, I choose to ignore the heartache's sway,
Focus on his love for me, come what may.
She's just a friend, a chapter closed in time,
And when we meet, I'll greet her with a friendly mind.
No jealousy, no fear, just a warm, kind smile.
Cause I won't share what's mine, in any aspect of his heart,
My love, my man – forever we'll never be apart.
