No Genie in the Lamp!

I was wandering in the sand,

It was all quiet, barring a breeze,

My hair waving, sand stuck in them,

My purpose, just to get some air!

As I went further in the sand,

No movement of people around,

Saw a little lamp in a distance,

Picked it up in my hand!

Look! I have a genie at my disposal,

I said to myself,

Do I get my three wishes?

Or should I let the lamp shelf?

I decided to rub the lamp,

Got it in my fingers to bring him out,

Continued the procedure,

But, no luck! No genie came out!

Kept the lamp in my handbag,

Didn't lose hope,

Thought I will find the Genie,

Once and for all, for the wishes he'll cope!

Got home and tried again,

But all I got was sand in my hand!

Hours went by, then days,

All the lamp managed now was a shining glaze!

At last, I put it on a shelf,

It's just stories that the Genie exists,

A showpiece I had,

No Genie in the lamp, 

Three wishes on the list!
