So Be It!

So Be It!

Happily galloping with my kin,

Across the field of farmers,

Spread far and wide,

Though we were chased away,

Whenever gobbling grass or vegetables alike,

The produce wasn’t for animals like ourselves,

Domestication was the only option for us,

Not being disrespectful to your kind,

We enjoy wind and food more than you do wine,

Freedom to move around swiftly,

Relishing the nature with my kin was all I asked,

Being a god’s creation, alas!

So are you, but you have your complexities,

Superiority to other creatures is your exercise,

Unfortunate was the day,

Pouring heavily, foot stuck in the mud,

A horse dealer caught me on my way,

Soon I was put as a prize,

Rich people bidding for me,

A smiling lad peeked through the fence,

Walking I was to show them my ability,

The bid went to someone related to him,

Soon, I got to know the lad was Samuel,

Off-color as a tree in autumn,

The change was a knife through my heart,

Felt like my personal rock bottom,

Samuel seemed nice despite the trouble I caused,

As stubborn as a north star,

Is what I came across as,

No friends were around me,

Apparently to him I was,

He cared, cared, and cared,

Didn’t leave me to rot,

Time passed and we grew closer,

A bond unexpected had been formed,

Wasn’t missing my kin much,

When Samuel didn’t leave me alone,

He was the one I had now,

Tried to make up for my losses every day,

Friendship blossomed with time,

Voluntarily, I went with him to graze hay,

One day we were up for a ride across the farm,

The longest we had taken together by far,

I could feel his sweaty palm,

All over my neck, trying to balance himself,

Suddenly, I came to a halt,

Seeing all my kin,

They still looked the same,

I had a saddle,

By the neck hanged a collar saying,

‘Thunder’ was my name,

Samuel got down and let me reminiscence in the setting Sun,

Got so involved with all the neighs around,

Forgot the saddle was now Samuel’s place,

Turned around and saw no one behind,

Could Samuel be so kind?

I still go and meet him along with my kin,

Contentment is the word for our relationship,

Whenever I depart,

I often notice a tear or two rolling down Samuel’s chin.
