If I Could Hold You In This Quarantine

I see your face in my smartphone frame,

Each time I touch the screen to light,

You appear so close and yet I know,

We could only talk in this quarantine.

How would it feel to hold your hand?

Undo your hair and ruin that style?

To unfasten your watch and tie it round my wrist?

And change your time to sink with mine?

For a love that came in a lockdown state,

Stamped and marked by an unfulfilled touch,

In words and thoughts of a sensual game,

Now he treads along my poetic works.

You know how much your voice seems changed,

Over the past three months of these virtual calls,

In tones and textures of smiles and laughs,

And you changed my thoughts amongst this all.

With impossibilities no longer appearing untrue,

Amidst the fancies of unthoughtful minds,

All unturned and appearing grey,

But perhaps, it’s just this quarantine.

But still I long for a parting note,

For once to reverse the counting times,

Not for a lifetime but just for a night,

If I could hold you in this quarantine.
