I saw a lake filled with

Lotus flowers 

In all denominations and colours

My heart jumped in ecstasy


The promise I made to my love

To gift her with the choicest of flowers


I walked into the waters 

Waist deep and above 

I slowly started plucking them in scores 

My never dying  love for them 

Leading me further into the swamp

The quick sands drawing me deep 

All that remains

The lotus flowers still and afloat 

Marking my grave
