Monsoon Romance (Free Verse)

It was a dreary day, raining heavily,

Clothes hung to dry indoors,

The outside world, muddy streets.

Until one day, Monsoon turned beautiful for me.

After school, late for the bus,

I ran home through the downpour.

Suddenly, our glances met, Time seemed to slow or stop.

Raindrops, perhaps love drops, began to fall on my heart,

Maybe love at first glance.

Her eyes were crystal-like, filled with nature’s beauty. She ran, dropping her handkerchief—I picked it up.

That handkerchief led me to her, Helping me meet her once again.

Now, I no longer see Monsoon as dreary,

But as a season of romance.
