Mask
Mask
When I first met you, I could sense something off about you.
I could see the tattered threads of the mask that you had put on.
Holding on to the deception you called the truth.
Oh, what secrets did you hide?
Today, as I stand in front of you.
Teasing you with the pieces of the mask,
Clutched in my hands.
Why are you so afraid?
Did you not think that I would love you for who you truly are?
Are you waiting for me to run away from you in disgust?
As I inch closer to you, taking in your vulnerable self.
Why are you taking a step back?
Let me soothe away your pain...
Is it that you are ashamed?
For what you did and failed to do....
Do not feel trapped by the follies of the past.
Hold my hand and come out of your mental prison.
Dark times are over...
Let me be your light....
I need you as much as you need me to be free...
