Life in my Backyard

Visitors in my backyard,

I welcome each day,

From little sparrows to hummingbirds,

They remind me life is at play.

Red Roses are busy,

Supplying nectar to the bees,

And so are the Lamb's ears,

With their leaves so fuzzy.

Cheery blooming flowers

Are always a reason to smile,

It's the visual treat for every nature observer,

That makes gardening worthwhile!

The colorful potted succulents are my favorite

They just need a little watering,

Adding pizzazz to my backyard,

They are extremely forgiving.

Then there is the fragrant jasmine,

She's the deciduous variety,

Mr.Blue Jay is a fan,

I am sure he thinks she's dainty.

Next is the bush of tropical red Hibiscus,

With ruffled petals and it's trumpet shaped blooms,

Monarch butterflies are frequent visitors,

Together they help end the gloom.

Last there is the bed of river pebbles,

Of varying shapes, sizes and colors,

Reminding me each and every day of our lives,

Has its own different flavors!
