In an Arranged Marriage
In an Arranged Marriage
In an Arranged Marriage
I look at an arranged marriage.I clamour to every rich potential and patiently listen
I see their eyes gleaming to find some one suitable and decent
The mother speaks some foreign tongue.
And the father utterly stubborn
The girl on the other side
Looks awkwardly bright
The smile, the eyes and the perfectly put up attire
All play their part,in this satire.
You and I or I and You are the only words
Spoken and discussed
As the Fathers decide on how deals
Are made and dreams are crushed
Raise a toast to the man who in his pomp
And glory
Can pay his life’s earning as dowry
All of it can save the turban
They are after all progressively urban
This time immemorial stands witness
To strength and merry and fakeness
This thread binds two families from one
End to the other end.
The mirth could transcend into remorse
The marriage could run into any course
But these gentlemen
Shall not leave a stone unturned
To successfully entertain
The crowds, that shall stay till it’s done
The wives accidentally naive
Try their hands at inspection
The prospects of the nuptial hive
To confirm their perfection
Seemingly surreal
Beautiful and unreal
This decked up arrangement
Is actually a mismanagement
Filled with anticipation
Only one detail desires attention
The fulfilment of a vacant place
With love, affection and gaze
That requires just two people
The bride and groom who stand in marriage steeple
May they get bound in holy matrimony
Bringing in the much needed subtlety to this cacophony
