I CHOSE THIS WAY
I CHOSE THIS WAY
In this brief journey of life
So many paths I have chosen
And so many roads not taken
I often wonder
Have I made a mistake?
Could those paths, the ones I chose not to take
Could those have taken me to a better place?
I took them not for they looked dreary
Bereft of promise, hope and cheer
But what if I had mistaken
The road I had not taken
Could it have led me to where I wanted to be?
Not one, not two, they were so many
The roads I missed and did not take.
The ones I took they looked so great
Yet why is it that I blame my fate
For not taking the roads I missed.
Its all in my mind, I reason
I walk some paths, I avoid some
But is it right, I say, to blame my fate?
For the path not taken.
The directions were right, the signs were there
I trust myself that my destination is there
And choose to turn away from the road
The road I had not taken.
No, I have no regrets
They might have led me to heaven
But the roads I took
Did lead me to happiness, gave me peace
My choice of road was not a mistake.
I don’t miss anymore
The road I did not take.
