Filipino Nationalism

In an archipelago found in the South Eastern part of the world,

Lies the marvellous nation with a sight to behold, 

Riches and wealth that will leave you dumbfounded,

People's traditional values will make you astounded. 

Behind that beauty are the culture and history,

Behind their freedom are the decades of fury,

Decades of sacrifices to fight for our independence,

A lot of wars have been fought for our freedom to commence. 

A lot of people sacrificed their lives,

Rizal, Bonifacio, Del Pilar, and Mabini did their best to strive, 

Some of the people who fearlessly fight,

Stake their lives to free our land from colonizers' grasp. 

Now it's my turn to do my obligation,

So that their sacrifices will not go in vain and in ways that have no direction, 

Patriotism and nationalism,

The first thing that is in my mind must remain. 

Respecting the flag is our responsibility,

That we must do as a citizen of our country,

Obeying the law is the second priority,

Of a good citizen that we must always be. 

Respect everyone despite the disparities,

Do not judge them just because they're unique,

Respect everybody's traditions, 

As we preserve the cultures we inherited from our loving ancestors. 

This serves as a mirror reflecting the past,

Serves as our guiding star,

In the new battle for survival,

Conquering poverty and hunger strikes.

Continuing our journey with our bravery

Using the pen as our sword, knowledge as our trophy,

Now, as the fruit of our history,

We are the creator of the future’s victory.
