Don't Pretend To Be A Gentleman My Dear Husband

Don't Pretend To Be A Gentleman My Dear Husband

2 mins

In a world where masks are worn like coveted crowns,

Where the line between truth and pretense often drowns,

I implore you, dear sir, listen closely to my plea,

Don't feign to be a gentleman and bind me, carelessly.

For I am no puppet, no mere puppeteer's delight,

I'm a spirit seeking freedom, aiming for a higher flight.

Don't weave your husband strings, attempting to confine,

My thoughts, my dreams, my aspirations, that are truly mine.

A gentleman, they say, is gentle, kind, and true,

But in your charade, I find no trace of these virtues anew.

It takes more than words whispered softly in my ear,

To prove you're not another wolf, veiled in sheep's veneer.

You see, I seek a partner, not a warden or a king,

Someone who'll walk beside me, not clip my eager wings.

A love that's built on trust, respect, and harmony,

Not one where I'm shackled, bound by false chivalry.

So, don't pretend to be the knight in shining armor,

When your actions speak louder, revealing a darker drama.

Let truth be your language, sincerity be your guide,

Release this masquerade, let authenticity reside.

For I am a woman, strong and bold in my own right,

Unwilling to be diminished, obscured by marriage's tight.

I crave a love that empowers, supports, and uplifts,

Not one that masks control, where my voice slowly drifts.

So take off this disguise, my dear would-be gent,

Embrace vulnerability, let honesty be your intent.

Build bridges made of trust, understanding, and grace,

And we shall tread together, on this journey we embrace.

For a true gentleman does not seek to possess or bind,

But rather, he nurtures, cherishes, and respects the mind.

Don't pretend to be something you're not, just to plea,

Instead, be an ally, a true companion, for you and for me.
