Daughter!!!!

The long long wait was finally over,

Quickly and effortlessly I recovered,

Bowled by extreme emotions -both turbulent and mild,

I thanked god, for I was blessed with a child.

With a sweet soft cry, she had arrived,

To bring happiness and complete my life,

When she opened her big dreamy eyes,

Along with sleepless nights came delight.

Oh! I wondered, what a tiny little being,

Had the power to change every little thing,

She was of my world the nucleus, the centre,

Everything I did revolved around her.

Her laughter brought a smile to my lips,

Her tears made my eyes moist,

After a long day when we cuddled,

Gave me peace, even when I was troubled.

She took her first steps wobbling and tumbling,

In no time she was running, exploring,

Under the table, under the chair...

It was a tough time, looking for her everywhere.

"Momma", was the first word she spoke,

The joy was exponential, like a bomb explode,

Her curiosity fuelled her questions, her chatter,

She had an opinion on everything that mattered.

Going to kindergarten required no effort,

Fun times with friends added to the comfort,

Rushing to the bus stop, she would patiently wait,

The bus ride was an adventure she had to take.

She balanced hobbies and studies alike,

Cycling and badminton were her favorite pass time,

Student life was enjoyable and time did fly,

Before I knew, it was college time.

Teenage came with its own complications,

Friendships, heart breaks and some hard resolutions,

She overcame her setbacks with will and persuasion,

I saw her stride through with courage and gain confidence.

Up the corporate ladder I saw her climb,

She multitasked with ease to manage her time,

The little one who took her first steps, holding my hand,

Now, teaches me online banking and to use the I pad.

Today as I sit, reminiscing my life,

Tears of happiness fill my eyes,

My heart fills with love for my friend, philosopher and guide,

That's my daughter, I say swelling with pride.
