Birds
Birds
In the early morning
When the breeze was blowing
And I was on the rooftop, exercising
I saw a lot of birds coming and going
Over the skies that I can proudly claim as mine
I saw those feathers putting straws in their mouths
And swiftly returning
Ignoring everything else,
For building up their nests
Among them was a sparrow, unimaginably small;
It surprised me, but it did not notice me there at all
Busy in trying to eat the early morning food,
Unlike other birds that ignored their stomachs' breakfast call
At first, the sparrow could not eat
Food fell from its mouth as if a cheat
But the little one did not give up on its efforts at all
After a lot of trying, the sparrow finally ate the puffed rice,
Breaking it further to suit the size of its mouth, when most people were in a slumber
The sparrow had filled its stomach, leaving me to wonder...
