The Soul of Gold

The Soul of Gold

She is a beautiful soul with a heart of gold,

Who stayed away from home and grew so bold.

Handling everything on her own, a heavy sight,

She turned a sister’s role into a mother’s light.

With two younger sisters to guide and to keep,

While far from home, her promises were deep.

In the capital, where education isn't always grace,

She outshone the crowd and found her own place.

She accepted her skin and her own true selfhood,

In a world of imitation, she stood where she should.

When everyone whispered for her to change and grow,

She kept her childhood innocence, a soft, inner glow.

A life caressed by nature, by purpose and time,

She stuck to her goals, a mountain to climb.

Sacrifices were embraced for the family’s sake,

Choosing their future for every choice she’d make.

She took up the weight that a son might have borne,

So her father’s tired spirit would never be torn.

She did not marry or follow the crowd,

Where children are born and voices are loud.

She lived by the truth of "others before the self,"

Leaving her own dreams of motherhood on the shelf.

She would not bring a child to a world so confused,

When her own plate was full and her energy used.

She gave love a chance, but a younger man’s art

Deceived her spirit and broke her young heart.

It taught her that marriage is the ultimate truth,

Not the passing betrayals and dramas of youth.

Naive and unalloyed, she faced every blow,

Thinking everyone’s heart had that same golden glow.

She loved diamonds dearly, but wore none at all,

To fund her sisters' dreams and stand tall.

She saved every penny, shouldering the weight,

Until she became the very thing she thought great.

Yes, a diamond herself, rare and specially made,

In this world where the colors so often will fade.

We are never truly broke, though our pockets are thin,

For the seed of creation is found deep within.

The soul is that power, the light and the breath,

That carries the weary through life and through death.

Though the burden is heavy when we give all we can,

She remains the gold heart in the life she began.
