Premature Twilight

Premature Twilight

My heart leapt with joy;

I felt like dancing for a while,

Before the realisation finally dawned:

The night had come,

And the light was gone.

Before I could even grasp the truth,

I drank the cup of hemlock in a single breath.

Before I could live my life to the fullest,

I had outdone it—exhausting my quota long before my time.
