Be a Witch

Be a Witch

2700 years ago

A beautiful maiden, Medusa

Raped by a King in the temple of Athena.

Later, Athena turned her hair to snakes

And her gaze would turn men to stone.

A power for revenge, one might think

But no, it was a curse.

Curse for being raped

And spoiling the sanity to the temple.

A monster, she's described

As Greek mythology.

Shocked! don't be.

That's how witches are made.

Haven't you watched Stree?

Or pickup any literary piece

Or any witch movie.

In fact, don’t go that far

Just look around in reality.

Opinio

nated women are outspoken.

Ambitious - rebellious.

Free-spirited - loose.

Sacrifices are celebrated,

While standing up is not.

Sita is praised for leaving the palace

So nobody points a finger at her husband.

But asking for equal respect from husband

Is frowned upon.

Goddess till you keep quiet,

Witch if you fight.

Our culture doesn't let us feel good about ourselves,

It takes courage to say

If culture doesn't fit me

I don't buy it.

So,

Be a witch if that what it is,

It is better than being a silly martyr.
