Answers

A fool seldom questions, I was told

A questioning mind finds answers, and I believed

Questions lead to “Truth”, I was advised

Ever since I have left no stone unturned

I learnt from the mistakes of yesterday

Only to make different ones today

I dare not move my eyes from the light, far away

The questions on my mind, heavily they weighed

Yet I walked tirelessly

Carrying my burdens silently

Pursuing answers relentlessly

Driven by a sense of urgency

I listened, I spoke and remained quiet

Tried harder, persevered; never gave up

I slogged and sacrificed

While my heart bled for some respite

I was there, almost there, right there!

And yet, I am stranded with a heavy chest and un-shed tears

This is not what I signed up for,

Life bolted through a back door;

And I forgot what I started fighting for

Stranded on an island

Surrounded only by a melancholic silence

A sense of void and unending absence

The answers, no longer of any significance
