Alone
Alone
Dear diary,
I hear him again,
He is getting in through the windowpane.
Alone in the house, my heart thumps
I have an intruder at home that thought makes me jump.
I stand up and edge near my room's door,
The house is as shadowy as the moor.
I wish I had gone out with my father or mother,
instead of being stuck with this rather.
I looked around for the phone
and realized I had left it in the criminal's zone.
Some plates in the kitchen broke up
and my pulse picked up.
Knowing the thief's location,
Didn't improve my situation.
I can't escape was my only thought
as to the reach the door the kitchen had to be crossed.
I looked around and grabbed a flower pot
Even a little protection was worth a shot.
I inched towards the spot where I placed the phone,
A sole help for a child home alone.
He was still busy with the food,
else I would have been easily subdued.
I picked the phone and turned around
Two amber eyes locking me on the ground.
A scream erupted within me
joined in by a cat's scream
A brown cat jumped from the shelf and ran away
Leaving me staring at the mess it made.
