Time to Donate your Toys!

Dear diary,

How much I love my toys

How my heart wails

When mom announces 

It's time to donate my toys 

 

She says to give away the dolls

Which are kept long forgotten in the box

But my heart tightens and tears form

As memories of past flood back in me

 

'Not the puppy dog, not the big car

Oh please oh please

Oh mama please

Let my toys be with me'

 

'I love my toys, mama 

I care for them, mama

They are my friends, mama

A part of my life, mama'

 

Mom says, 'you don't play with them anymore

Absorbed in books you don't save time 

For them anymore.'

 

'Mama please many memories are attached here

Of childhood and fun, of adventurous days

Please oh please oh mama please, can't we keep them for some

more days.'

 

Finally my mother conceded

A warm smile on her face she said

Go sweetie go play with your toys

 

Still my heart wails 

Cause a few weeks later

Mom will say

It's time to donate my toys again!
