Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon naps are a nuisance,

They can never ever decide

Whether they want to be a refresher,

Or the metaphorical pain in the backside.

The other day, when I took a nap,

I woke up after half an hour

And I felt fresh as dew drops,

Like I'd slept through a hundred year.

Today, when I needed that most,

I woke up with a headache,

Please let things work out,

For the very future is at stake.

I had a point with this poem,

But I lost it amongst the words,

Let's just pretend I know what I'm doing,

And this is intentional nonsense verse!

So back to the nap, the nuisance nap,

I'll never again sleep in the afternoon.

I'd rather sleep and wake up early,

Studying in the company of the Moon.

Now I sit at my desk,

Sipping on some tea,

Oh, the miraculous beverage,

Has worked its wonders on me.

The warm sweetness chases away

That drowsiness so heavy.

Oh boy, am I grateful,

For a cup of afternoon tea!
