A Phone Call
A Phone Call
Beep beep, my phone rang
It brought a wrinkle on my face
What if this was a call to tell me
That someone was out of life's race?
I thought and thought
Do they want to tell me about their excruciating pain?
Or about their thousands of losses
Or perhaps could it even be a gain?
I was completely overwrought
Because with the confusion I was blown,
Yet with a gulping sound
I swiped green on my phone.
Had someone met an accident
Or had someone fallen into an everlasting slumber? I was still thinking
The person spoke softly
And guess what, I realized it was a wrong number.
