Shelves of Wonder
Shelves of Wonder
A designated place in a specific spot
Has the curious name of the "Wonder Lot".
These are my shelves and rows of books
Is a storehouse of information and knowledge
All know by their looks.
They are my company, my soulmate
As-far-as I remember
"Champak" and "Chacha Choudhary"
Being my first wonder.
"Nancy Drew" helped me move up the ladder
"Tagore", "Shakespeare" and "Tolstoy"
All followed the order.
These shelves and their contents
Have always mesmerized
Transporting me to a world of fantasy and wonder.
Never had I a dull moment with them
Spinning my imaginary castle
Running in the corridors of mystery and suspense.
I followed the "Hardy Boys"
In their journey, fun and games.
"Bankim Babu's" work tad difficult to read
And yet I performed the impossible feat.
Sometimes I think
I should have married my books
Then one day I would be a princess
The other day a crook.
In these pages my imagination
Runs amok here and there
I can feel "Shakuntala's" pain
And "Kapalkundala's" fear
And what if one day
Somebody would dare to steal
My "Wonder Lot"
I would hunt him like the pirate "Sparrow"
With an eye tied in a cloth.
