Communication has gone for a toss today

Conversation is at a loss

There was a time when people spoke

People spoke non-stop.

The phone's ring meant somebody calling

Somebody very dear

Friends cried and laughed over the phone

Shared their tales far and near.

Now for everything there is an emoticon

No one talks and laughs

They send a message, emoticons included

Four words and a heart.

The telephone made way for the mobile

Don't know what's in store next?

Little happiness, little joy

Some sorrows even

Now all seems a waste.

No one speaks, no one calls

No one says "hello"

There's no telephonic chord

Binding two hearts

Turning it soft and mellow.

Sometimes we the older generation feel

It's better to stay in the past

Then the people spoke non-stop

And shared a joke and laugh.

They called up to know your good health

The travails of your life

Called up to share your sorrow

And share their funny, little smile.

So we become nostalgic sometimes

Seeing the old telephone

The instrument that brought friends together

Gossip, fun and more.
