A Mother Is Born!!
A Mother Is Born!!
When you were first placed in my arms,
Petite and tender, just about a foot long,
You resembled a beautifully wrapped toy,
Stirred a million sentiments, my bundle of joy.
My emotions were on a roller coaster ride,
Of awe, excitement, happiness and pride,
All the discomfort vanished without a trace,
As I held you with a loving gaze.
By your beauty and vulnerability, I was smitten
In the lava of unfathomable love, my heart was moulten,
Motherly instincts once dormant, now surged,
To provide and protect they beseeched, urged.
Moments ago you had arrived with a loud wail,
I was just as anxious, as exhausted and pale,
You went into a slumber, when placed on my chest,
Conveying, " Mom, I am fine, you get some rest."
As I held your hand, you lifted it high,
Then you opened your big dreamy eyes,
Looked at me and gave a soft cry,
Squeezed my finger tight, as if to say Hi!
Of your gestures and unspoken words, I felt surprisingly informed,
Overnight into a different person I had transformed,
The carefree, casual woman in me was gone,
When you entered the world, the mother in me was born!!
