A Quaint Conversation
A Quaint Conversation
“Mom dear mom!
Having been on earth for so long
You must have had
Your fair share
I am just a beginner
Let me be privy to
All those blissful moments of sleep
And this is a gentle reminder
Lull me to the heavenly experience
Through your soulful renderings of lullabies
If you don't ...
Then, I will let papa know about
Your sheer negligence
In this matter"
“All gave some
Some gave all"
"I belong to the second category dear!
I am proud and feel privileged
For the above mention
Yet, you say…
This is not enough!”
“Have a heart baby!
I am your mom
I too need sleep
I have forfeited my naptime
To make you smile
Keep you happy
Now let me steal a wink of sleep
Not more...just a wink!
And don't grudge my
‘me time”
‘Since you are born
My days are dragged
Nights are exceptionally long
Life has been an endless struggle
Between two extremes
‘enough sleep’ and ‘sleep deprivation
But you are my bundle of joy
My prized possession
I can’t do without you
You have seeped into my soul
To become my obsession
I have done no charity
By coming out of my selfish mentality
Take it from me
I am evolved as a person
I feel like a gleaming nymph
Trudging gracefully over a sparkling shore
Motherhood has brought
So much change in me
I am able now to
Appreciate and accentuate
Brighter prospects of life”
“ I was joking all along mom!
I know you have been through the ravenous condition
Both ‘sleep deprived’ and ‘hungry’
On many occasions
But, please understand!
I am new to this world
Let me have a major chunk of everything
For that matter
Let me begin with ‘sleep’
It’s only you
Who made me sleepy
Time and again I kicked you
From my confide
To let me have my ways and playmates
Each time you whispered
‘go to sleep, time is not ripe’
Why are you retracting your steps now
By saying-
‘I had enough,
Your time starts now!’
