Still We Rise
Still We Rise
A wave of change so fast and changed the course of history of my roots
No more life of gathers no more life of nomads a whole new change
Worship in modern attire sit at a table and eat with folks and spoons
Drink from a cup and say prayers to their gods for the food and life they live
Labour from dawn to sunset into the late hours for a bite did sting like bee
Sweat to gain was so tough yet that was life if to survive in one's own land
Voices of freedom echoed far and wide across the land
Reached a group of intellectuals of the land who rose from dust to be the voices of its inhabitants
The powerhouse of democracy for our land they were and they achieved and gained our freedom on the 16th of September 1975
We will produce lawyers we will produce doctors nurses teachers like all other nations was the words that echoed loud and clear that day
Though gone those many voices that made us who we are today we still will rise each day from our fall
For the way is clear as we advance on in life a nation United as one people one nation one country
God bless Papua New Guinea was the pledge that echoed in the past at present and into the future
We will still rise each time we fall for our father of the nation showed us we can
