Bridegroom
Bridegroom
Drape me not in fine purples and linens,
Drape me with your love.
Adorn me not in frills and laces,
Adorn me with your embrace.
Impearl me not in diadems and diamonds.
Impearl me with your kisses.
Wreathe me not in daisies and lilacs,
Wreathe me in your glamour.
Bathe me not in myrrh and henna,
Bathe me in your fragrance.
Give me not a gossamer pillow,
Give me your soothing lap to rest my head.
Give me not a velvet carpet for a walk,
Give me
your time to walk beside me.
Let my name not be lulled from a parrot's beaks,
Let my name be rippled from your lips.
Feed me not with fattened calves and roasted chickens,
Feed me with your sugary wits.
Reveal not to me the colors of the wild,
Reveal to me your fears and sorrows.
Put me to sleep not in a gemutlich bed,
Put me to sleep, in your gentle arms.
Spread not a silken quilt over me,
Spread the corner of your garment-
Since you are my Bridegroom.
